Five-star eventer Buck Davidson works with a Preliminary pair to develop quickness in the horse’s hind-end. He uses a figure-eight exercise to encourage the horse to sit and push from behind with better balance. As they move on to course work, Davidson points out that the horse tends to spin his hindquarters out rather than engaging his hind end.
Buck Davidson has competed at Badminton, Burghley, Kentucky, Maryland and Pau CCI5*-L events. He has represented the U.S. at two FEI World Equestrian Games™ and earned team gold and individual bronze at the 2011 Pan American Games. He runs BDJ Equestrian out of facilities in Ocala, Florida, and Unionville, Pennsylvania.
