The rider remounts, and Colonel Carde talks about how the horse must learn to obey the hand and not resist by going up. He gives a wonderful explanation of how to accomplish this, and how important it is to refrain from pulling. He also explains what true lightness is. The horse and rider show a great example of the trot with lightness. They show the half pass and shoulder in, and the Colonel encourages him to let the horse stretch as a reward.
