The best in the world converged on Aachen, Germany, Aug. 14-16, for the eventing competition at the FEI World Championships, and the historic city delivered exactly the atmosphere everyone had promised.
Riding for a home crowd that rose to a standing ovation as he crossed the show jumping finish line, Michael Jung called his gold-medal-clinching partner fischerChipmunk FRH “a dream to ride.”
“Aachen is always very special,” he said. “It’s a big thing being in your home country. To have all the disciplines together makes it much more special, so much adrenaline and the stadium has such a cool atmosphere. I was definitely emotional at the end.”
Great Britain claimed the team title—their fourth in the past five championship cycles—with Germany taking silver, and the U.S. earning bronze.
