Stephany Fish Crossman, a LEVEL 3 Ride With Your Mind Accredited coach, biomechanics expert and dressage trainer, joined Practical Horseman+ members for the second-ever Members-Only VIP Webinar titled “Rider Biomechanics 101.” She provided an overview of rider biomechanics and answered questions about how it can affect a rider’s performance in the saddle. While each rider is an individual with a different build and body type, Fish Crossman shared general tips and imagery to help equestrians improve their riding and harmony with their horses.
The webinar started with Fish Crossman’s explanation on the topic, beginning with what rider biomechanics is, how the field of study came to be and what its goals are. She continued by sharing how rider biomechanics can benefit a range of riders including hunters, jumpers, eventing and dressage as well as trail riders. She also explained how rider biomechanics can fit into normal lessons and everyday riding. The webinar concluded with Fish Crossman answering a variety of questions from the viewers ranging from finding the center of the saddle to hunter/jumper riders keeping their inner thighs against the saddle to tips for sitting the trot.
