“Everybody asks me how I get my horses’ coats so shiny,” five-star eventer and Grand Prix dressage rider Laine Ashker says with smile. Over the course of her professional career, Ashker has found that keeping her horses’ coats gleaming in and out of the show ring requires proper nutrition, including high-quality forage, access to fresh water, a diligent grooming routine and smart use of shine-enhancing sprays.

“The icing on the cake for my horses’ shine in the show ring is the Santa Fe No-Slip Conditioner spray by Absorbine,” she said. “After thoroughly grooming my horse, I simply spray his coat down with the spray and then use my favorite grooming brush or a mitt to rub it in.”

Formulated with silk proteins, vitamin E and panthenol, the Santa Fe spray works to condition and nourish hairs and produce an overall glossy, healthy coat. Ashker also appreciates the conditioner’s non-slip component. “What’s so great about this product is that it deeply conditions and moisturizers the hair, but it isn’t slippery. This way, I don’t have to worry about my saddle pad slipping,” she said. “Other sprays often create this weird film on the horse’s coat that causes pads to move.”

Five-star eventer Laine Ashker applies Absorbine’s Santa Fe No-Slip Conditioner to her horses’ coats to produce shine for the show ring and to prevent fading during spring and summer turnout.

Ashker also values the spray for its sun protection. With built-in SPF, it serves as sunscreen protection and can help prevent coat fading due to sun exposure. “On beautiful spring days when it’s in the 70s, I use the spray all over my horses’ coats during turnout,” she said. “It’s amazing for grooming and creating shine to ensure my horses look their best in the show ring, but I also love it for turnout. It protects my horses from the harsh UV rays and maintains their coats’ beautiful, brilliant color without getting bleached from the sun.”
